(CINCINNATI)– In celebration of Black History Month, the Harriet Beecher Stowe House invites you to take part in special programming. These programs are free and located at the Beecher Stowe House, 2950 Gilbert Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45206 unless otherwise noted. Ruth and the Green Book Children’s Program at Walnut Hills Branch Library Wednesday, Feb. 19th at 3pm Walnut Hills Branch Library 2533 Kemper Lane, Cincinnati, OH 45206 Bring the kids in your life to Walnut Hills Branch Library to learn about how black travelers in Cincinnati used the Green Book to stay connected to people they loved and explore new regions of the country. This program will include a read-aloud of Ruth and the Green Book by Calvin Alexander Ramsey and a hands-on activity for kids to practice planning their own historical road trip. Best for ages 5-12. Semi-Colon Club – Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice [EVENT FULL – WAITLIST AVAILABLE] Sat., Feb 22 at 12pm Kick off our Year of the Woman Semi-Colon Club viewing and discussing an award-winning documentary. Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice documents the dramatic life and turbulent times of the pioneering African-American journalist, activist, suffragist and anti-lynching crusader of the post-Reconstruction period. A guided discussion will follow the film. $5 suggested donation, free for HBSH members. Book Signing with Nancy Stearns Theiss Sunday, Feb. 23rd at 4pm Author Nancy Stearns Theiss will speak and sign her new book A Tour on the Underground Railroad along the Ohio River. Learn about the author, the Beecher and Stowe families, the Underground Railroad, and the women’s rights movement of the 1830s–1860s. This historic site is part of the Ohio History Connection’s network of more than 50 sites and museums across Ohio.
