Girls will learn about influential women in history, including anti-slavery author Harriet Beecher Stowe’s life and legacy of social justice in Cincinnati and daily life activities for girls in the 19th century. The visit includes a tour and interactive activities and fulfills all requirements for the Playing the Past badge.

SUFFRAGE CENTENNIAL PATCH PROGRAM

The 19th Amendment, which was ratified in 1920, removed the gender restriction to voting—a significant milestone for democracy! Isabella Beecher Hooker, the youngest of the Beecher sisters, lived in Cincinnati as a young girl in the 1840s and grew up to be a national activist for women’s voting rights. Girls will work toward the Suffrage Centennial patch through a house tour and interactive activities.
