Completing this program will allow you to take your knowledge and experiences and share them with the community. You will grow as a writer, speaker, and teammate--skills necessary to serve in a variety of roles with other museums, historic sites, or organizations. This could be just the first step to a life of community service as a hobby or a career.
Located in the historic neighborhood of Walnut Hills in Cincinnati, OH, the Harriet Beecher Stowe House hosts educational tours, lectures, and readings. We celebrate the life, family, and legacy of author and activist Harriet Beecher Stowe. Harriet is primarily known for her book, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and its contributions to the Civil War. The later history of the House highlights its importance in the civil rights discussions of the 20th century.
Time commitment is 6-10 hours/month from August 2019 - June 2020. It will emphasize critical thinking, communication, and personal management skills. All activities will take place at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, 2950 Gilbert Avenue (corner of MLK) unless otherwise indicated. It is served by bus routes 4, 24 (directly), 31 (4 blocks away), and 1, 11 (5 blocks away). There is a small parking lot and free street parking at the site. Field trip activities will require permission and will originate at the House.
Apply here. We will continue to accept applications until positions are filled. Program begins August 24, 2019.
